Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWAnwar Francis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Baton Rouge, LA, who works with adults and couples. Many of his clients struggle to feel connected in their relationships or at peace in their daily lives. Though successful, they wrestle with questions such as what their purpose is and how to live a meaningful life. Anwar works well with clients facing moments of significant life transition, like a move to a new city, job loss, marriage, divorce, breakup, or death, who may feel out of control and struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt.
Anwar’s approach is rooted in Existential Therapy, an approach that focuses on helping clients to deeply explore their internal experience to better understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make positive change. He works to help clients understand their physical, psychological, and emotional responses to external stressors, and begin to find ways to create moments of calm and gain more freedom to choose how to respond rather than just react in the face of change.
Anwar is focused on ensuring that his clients see real world progress outside of therapy: his style is direct and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. A trauma-informed therapist, Anwar is sensitive to the influence of past experiences on present challenges and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion.
Anwar’s priority when working with clients is to ensure that they feel respected as an equal partner in the therapeutic process.
