Master of Arts (MA) - Clinical Mental Health Counseling Licensed Counseling Professional, LCP PhD Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsAriel Shivers-McGrew is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Qualified Mental Health Professional located in Homewood, IL. Ariel specializes in working with adults who would like to develop themselves both in the personal and professional sense. Many of Ariel’s clients face challenges with stress and burnout. They find it challenging to set boundaries with other people and to be assertive, which can lead to feelings of low self-esteem or even shame. They seek strategies to effectively communicate their needs to others, and to find ways to cope with the high amount of pressure they feel in their lives.
Ariel helps clients through her strong coaching techniques. She believes in the power of authenticity and vulnerability, and celebrates her clients’ courage to work on themselves. Her goal is to create a reflective space for clients to consider how different aspects of their lives impact mental health. Clients learn how to overcome communication issues with others and to cope with negative feelings. They also reflect on how their thought patterns might influence the way that they see themselves, changing these patterns to be more positive and affirming. Clients leave therapy with Ariel feeling empowered to be their best selves and to change the areas in their lives that aren’t serving them.
Ariel has a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Psychology Consulting from Pepperdine University School of Education and Psychology. Ariel teaches students as an adjunct professor of Psychology and is certified in many types of counseling, including many that focus on workforce, leadership, and personal growth.
