Dr. Arthur Heiserman is a Clinical Psychologist in Manhattan who works with children, adolescents, college students, and adults across the lifespan, both individually and as a couple. He specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and self-esteem.
While Dr. Heiserman’s treatment approach is grounded in Psychoanalytic Therapy, he adapts to a client’s needs and goals to ensure they are receiving the highest standard of care. To do so, he incorporates elements of body-centered therapies, like Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems, Supportive Therapy, and other treatment modalities. He helps clients become more grounded during sessions by working with them to feel more connected with their bodies and what is happening in the present moment.
Dr. Heiserman has a calming presence that makes clients feel safe and supported. He has advanced training in Somatic Experiencing in addition to a certificate in Psychoanalysis.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder) often resulting in difficulty with attention and concentration, becoming distracted, excessive worrying or other repetitive thoughts and behaviors, dissociating or staring in the present-moment.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy - For adults 21 years or older, as an adjunctive to talk therapy, especially for those who have been unsatisfied with their progress in other forms of treatment and continue to feel stuck in their lives.
Psychedelic Integration-Focused Therapy - Psychedelic integration is a form of therapy that focuses on processing experiences had during a psychedelic trip. Psychedelic medicines are being used for a variety of mental health conditions. Many people, however, have difficult, challenging, or destabilizing experiences in addition to startling realizations. Other people find that the realizations they have on a psychedelic can be too fleeting to relieve mental and emotional suffering and convert into long-term change.
