Professional statement

We all deserve to be seen and heard in our fullness and complexity. As a therapist, Asasia believes deeply in the therapeutic relationship as a central force, to make room for one to be heard authentically, without judgment. She value fostering a space of curiosity, honesty, and safety, where you can work as partners to navigate challenges, process experiences, gain insight into your inner world, and heal from pain and trauma. Therapy with about “fixing” – she believes each person already has skills and strengths that have helped take them this far, and together you can collaborate to develop new skills, while adjusting those that no longer serve you. Whether you are getting stuck in anxious thought patterns, feeling lost, working through past and present trauma, or trying to get to know yourself better, Asasia's goal is to discover the strengths you already possess and expand to even better improve your life.

Message to clients

My approach is anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed. I pull from a variety of techniques and frameworks including talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic techniques, attachment theory, and systems theory. As a mixed-race (Black and white) woman, I know that our intersecting identities shape our experiences, as well as how the world responds back to us. None of our experiences exist in a vacuum, and it’s my mission to make room to talk candidly not only about your experiences, but the role your identity and culture play.

Clients come to me to navigate difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, life transitions, dysfunctional family relationships and childhoods, racial and cultural identity, gender, sexual assault, and trauma. In session with me, you can expect transparency, support, collaboration, humor, and above all, moving at your pace. I look forward to getting to know you!

Therapist's note

A Good Place Therapy providers are out-of-network for all insurance carriers except Lyra Health; some providers are also in-network with NYU student health insurance (CHP).

Prospective clients also have the option of seeing one of the many excellent LMSWs who take NYU CHP insurance; they also offer fees starting at $100/session if clients meet income eligibility.

Clinicians will file out-of-network benefits directly on behalf of clients, so that clients only need to pay the deductible or the copay up front. Many people have excellent OON benefits and after their deductibles are met, they pay only 20-50% of the fee. A Good Place also commonly reduces what clients pay until they reach their deductible.
