Professional statement

Ashley Ashton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the Midwest. Ashley welcomes individuals 18+ into both individual and group tele-therapy sessions to create change in their lives. Many of Ashley’s clients bring a history of childhood trauma that has shaped the way clients navigate themselves, relationships, and the world. Ashley is sensitive to clients’ experiences and engages them as experts of their own life.

Ashley practices from a strengths-based and person-centered approach. Her sessions are rooted in Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies, both evidenced-based practices that focus on how one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Therapy sessions with Ashley integrate both insight oriented and skills-based techniques to increase client awareness of this connection.

As a trauma-informed clinician, Ashley is cognizant to the influence past experiences have on present challenges and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative in a way that empowers them. Together, Ashley and her clients work to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of mindfulness to aid in developing responses versus reactions in their day-to-day interactions.

Message to clients

HI! I’m Ashley, a heterosexual cis-female who identifies as Caucasian. I use she | her pronouns. I currently live in the Midwest, but my heart belongs to Washington. I love plants, hiking, travel, and dogs.

Therapy can feel so overwhelming at times. My goal is to make therapy interactive and something you WANT to come to every week [or 2x/week or month, your call], but also a place where you feel safe and comfortable to just be yourself and be vulnerable. Therapy isn’t a race, it’s more like a hike up Mt. Rainier. There are going to be hard sessions, sessions where you can take a break and recharge and sessions where you feel proud and accomplished. At the end of the day, you’ll be able to look back and see all the progress you’ve made and how much closer you are to the end goal [Summiting Mt. Rainier]. And the best part, you won’t be alone. I will be right next to you encouraging you to challenge yourself and highlighting how far you have come.
