Professional statement

Ashley Danenhower is a Licensed Mater Social Worker based in Woodstock, CT currently, who works with individuals across the lifespan, with a focus on individuals within their environment. Many of her clients have found great success within their careers but struggle to feel connected in their relationships or at peace in their daily lives. Ashley is particularly sensitive to clients facing moments of transition, like a move to change careers, grief from parent loss, or a breakup, when the delicate balance can seem to tremble, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can emerge.

Ashley’s approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. She works to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change. Ashley utilizes her certification in equine-assisted psychotherapy to help her client’s see how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected.

Ashley is focused on ensuring that her clients see authentic progress: her style is interactive, experiential, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. A trauma-informed therapist, Ashley is sensitive to the influence of past experiences on present challenges, and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion.

Ashley’s first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. As a seasoned telehealth provider, she offers the convenience of remote sessions to help make therapy a core component of your self-care calendar.

Message to clients

At times we can find it hard to express how we feel, or even locate the emotions we are feeling. If you want to be able to come to a place where you can feel able to just express yourself, without feeling judged, and without feeling like you must follow someone else’s agenda, I can provide a safe space to be honest and feel a better sense of well being. Whether you have a specific goal, or feel like you don't know where to start, that's okay, talking can help you get there.

As a Therapist, I will provide you a safe space in which to reconnect with yourself, see your strengths, process experiences so that you are better equipped to navigate life's stresses. I have experience with incorporating different theoretical foundations that will help facilitate your personal growth. I value where you are in your life, and how events have effected you throughout your life. It’s important to me that you feel reconnected with the important parts of yourself that may have been lost in the shuffle.

I believe that offering you space to explore, and talk while offering you the warmth and comfort, and self disclosure, that you will become empowered to look at your challenges in a healthy way. This safety allows you to adjust your kaleidoscope's perspective. This clarity will help motivate you to create the shift that you need in order to see your strengths and increase opportunities within your life, for emotional freedom.
