Professional statement

Ashley is a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst with offices in Greenwich Village and Brooklyn Heights. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults to address issues including: eating disorders, gender/sexuality, childhood trauma, divorce, anxiety and depression. She also helps young people navigate entering and adjusting to the challenges of adulthood.

Ashley has over twenty-five years of experience working with children and adolescents. Her prior career in education helps her to understand the nuances pertaining to struggles in school. Ashley completed trainings in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Adult Training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. These trainings have provided Ashley the tools to help patients identify the core of their struggles and to recognize patterns of thought and behavior.

In starting treatment with Ashley, patients can expect to find someone who listens carefully, and to begin with topics they feel comfortable discussing. Ashley understands that it takes time to develop trust in a relationship with a therapist. Each patient Ashley sees is treated as unique, meaning that treatment is not a one-size-fits-all. With training in yoga, CBT and DBT, Ashley can provide patients with tools to address overwhelming feelings between sessions.

Message to clients

Participating in therapy is hard, whether you are just starting off or are familiar with the process. It can be hard to vocalize the things that we struggle with: talking about what bothers us makes it real in a new way. I understand that relationship building takes time. My goal is to help you find what it is you are seeking. I am curious to get to know you and look forward to helping you achieve what you set out to do.
