Bari Berkowitz is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Los Angeles, CA. She provides tele- health to clients in California and Michigan. Bari has over 20 years of experience working with those who have issues with depression, anxiety and codependency issues. Many of Bari’s clients have previously experienced trauma from their relationships, including from early caregivers or toxic partners. This may lead to attachment issues which is generally connected to intense feelings of fear or shame. Bari provides couples counseling using a variety of interventions including the John Gottman method.
Bari’s approach to therapy draws from Pia Mellody’s Post-Induction Therapy (PIT). In PIT, childhood trauma is seen as the origin of relational issues and conflict. Codependency behaviors center around this trauma, and clients work to process through that trauma to improve the health of their relationships.
Bari also utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients explore their inner worlds, including the various aspects that make up their genuine selves. She empowers clients to prioritize their own healing and supports them every step of the way.
Bari earned a Master’s degree in Humanistic and Clinical Psychology. She has a post Masters Specialization in Couple and Family Counseling. She values honesty and a direct approach with clients.
