Professional statement

Bea von Watzdorf is a psychotherapist working with adults of all ages. She offers in person sessions through her office in Bethlehem, PA, as well as virtual sessions to clients in PA, NJ, DC and VA. Many of Bea’s clients come in to address feeling stressed, stuck, or overwhelmed by life challenges and transitions. Bea is passionate about helping people grow, evolve and find a path forward that allows them to live fully, authentically and meaningfully.

Bea has advanced training helping people deal with life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. During sessions, she uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), existential psychology, and mindfulness approaches. Strategies used to help develop self-awareness and self-regulation include mindfulness exercises and meditation, developing healthy boundaries, and finding balance in attachments.

Bea's style is warm, engaging and supportive. From the initial session, she creates an atmosphere of safety, attentiveness and connection that allows clients to feel heard and understood. Clients are taught to identify triggers and observe what they're experiencing without judgement. This allows for deeper exploration of thoughts, feelings and beliefs to identify what's helpful and what isn't. Therapy focuses on strengthening, cultivating and building on what's working... as well as understanding, releasing, and growing from what no longer is serving.

Bea received her MS from Georgia State University. She has worked with traumatized adults and children in various clinical settings, including a VA Medical Center, federal law enforcement center, and children's advocacy center. Outside of private practice, she creates online Christian mindfulness meditations that can be heard on YouTube and the Be Still Biblical Meditations app.

Message to clients

I love connecting with clients and helping them connect more deeply with themselves. Creating a safe space in which people feel heard, seen and cared about is essential for this. With respect, confidentiality and commitment, we form a trusting relationship which is at the heart of any successful therapy.

From the start, clients and I establish a vision to aim for along with reachable goals that allow us to implement and measure change. We identify challenges to be overcome, along with potential strengths and existing resources. Before moving forward, I teach self-regulation and mindfulness skills so that clients can feel safe and supported in the process of change. Together, we embark upon a path of discovery that is collaborative and sensitive to client's needs and wishes.

Figuring out who we are and what we're about is one of life's great privileges and responsibilities. It is an honor to walk this intimate, life changing path with clients. I am grateful to serve as a guide, reflector, encourager, and partner on the journey to a richer, more meaningful life.
