Ben Kennedy is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist integrating somatic therapy and EMDR. He trained at the Southern California Counseling Center and holds an MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, as well as an MFA in Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Ben works with individuals and couples navigating depression, relationship challenges, anxiety, unprocessed trauma, and creative blocks. He offers a warm, collaborative space where clients can explore their inner world and connect with feelings that might otherwise go unspoken. He helps clients listen nonjudgmentally to the messages within their distress, making room for transformation.
As an integrative therapist, Ben tailors his approach to each client’s unique needs. He draws on attachment theory, neurobiology, psychoanalytic thought, and the here-and-now to uncover and explore deeper relational patterns. He views the therapeutic relationship itself as a resource to explore the unconscious. Clients are invited to experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. Many clients feel more connected to themselves and others after treatment with Ben. Trained in EMDR, he also helps clients process trauma and difficult experiences stored in the body. He sometimes incorporates expressive art therapy techniques and dreamwork into his practice.
He specializes in working with artists, childhood and attachment trauma, neurodivergence, and those who have felt frustrated with or misunderstood by traditional talk therapy. He works from a non-pathologizing approach, seeing therapy as a collaborative exploration of the unconscious. Ben welcomes clients to bring their whole selves into the work. Nothing is too big or too small to talk about. He blends curiosity with compassion, supporting clients in transforming conflict into possibility, developing more fulfilling relational patterns, and cultivating a greater sense of agency.
He offers in-person sessions at his office in Los Feliz on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and online most other days.
