Benu Lahiry is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Seattle, WA. Her work is especially helpful for people who are functioning at a high level already, however feel overwhelmed by their anxiety, self-doubt, and low confidence. These clients generally don’t feel worthy of happiness, including the positive emotions that come with healthy relationships. Their blockage against feeling satisfied or comfortable can lead to high stress levels that exacerbate their mental health further. Benu also works with clients who would like to talk through work conflicts, trouble with intimacy, parenting challenges, and the unique dynamics that come with being an interracial couple.
Benu practices many evidence-based therapy modalities to support the unique needs of her clients. She teaches clients how to become introspective and to reflect on their feelings, increasing their inner awareness. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feeling, and actions. As part of solution-focused therapy, clients set their own goals for their mental health and Benu helps them reach these goals by breaking each goal down into smaller steps. Benu also encourages clients to consider how their early relationships, especially those with caregivers, shapes their current thoughts about relationships, love, and connection. When she works with couples, she gives them tools for healthy communication and teaches them how to be emotionally vulnerable around each other.
Benu is licensed as a Marriage and Family therapist in California and Washington. She is currently available for remote sessions only, and is available to see clients Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm PT.
