Bonnie Culpepper is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Denver, CO. Bonnie works with individuals and couples when daily stressors start to erode at overall well-being. Many of her clients feel sad, worried about something out of their control, stuck in the same patterns, or disconnected from their partner, family, and friends. Bonnie creates a safe, non-judgemental space during her sessions to encourage curiosity about the self and foster a deeper understanding of thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Bonnie draws heavily from Emotions-Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples, a specialized therapeutic framework that highlights the role of habits - the good and the bad - within the relationship. By looking at these behaviors, Bonnie supports the development of strong bonds between partners based on attachment theory. With individuals, Bonnie is passionate about teaching mindfulness practices and collaborating with the client on creating a narrative about the self that illustrates origins and future paths.
Many of Bonnie’s clients learn skills in silencing the inner-critic, that part of the mind that offers constant negative self-talk or self-criticism. By developing a deep understanding of the self, she then builds self-compassion in hopes of positive changes in lifestyle, relationships, and emotional state.
