Dr. Bonnie Kane is a psychologist in private practice with an office in Providence, RI. Her practice focuses on women in transition, loss and grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress management. She particularly enjoys supporting women experiencing an array of challenges including those related to relationships, grief, identity, and careers.

Dr. Kane has an abundance of clinical education and experience helping individuals heal from grief and loss. She takes a psychodynamic approach, helping clients explore their history to understand how aspects of their unresolved past influence present relationships. A large component of her practice is allowing clients to tell their stories at their own pace without judging or rushing the healing process.

Dr. Kane works with teenagers, young adults, adults, couples, parents, and seniors. She is committed to providing a safe space for trauma survivors to process their experiences and take the first step toward recovery.

Message to clients

It's comforting to have an objective person in your life to help you process whatever is going on for you at the time. This is a safe, non-judgmental environment where you're free to say and feel what ever you want.


Women in transition - Women who are transitioning through a difficult phase in their lives including divorces, job changes, moving, an empty nest, dealing with teenagers or elderly parents, or grief. Feeling as if there is always a change to try and integrate into their current life situation

Loss and grief - Processing the loss of a loved one, any form of grief; processing he emotional aspects of personal illness or the illness of a loved one

Depression - Sleep and energy disruption, overall mood disturbance, inability to enjoy yourself, and difficulty being motivated, amongst many other symptoms

Anxiety - Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks

Trauma - Including dealing with past sexual assault, childhood trauma, environmental trauma (e.g. witnessing/experiencing violence), PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)

Stress management - Coping with stress of life and change, expectations of self and other

Perfectionism - Striving for flawlessness setting unrealistic performance expectations

Couples counseling - Improving communication and problem solving skills with couples from all gender and sexual identities
