Professional statement

Braden Weinmann, M.S. (he/they) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. They operate Hearthlight Counseling PLLC, a fully-online mental health counseling practice focused on improving the health and wellness of queer and trans Texans. Braden comes from a background of working with university students and has much experience working with emerging adults, while they are broadening their scope of practice to include clients at any stage of adulthood.

Braden combines person-centered counseling, relational-cultural theory, and relational depth approaches to offer counseling wherein the therapeutic relationship is always at the forefront. They describe themself as a relational counselor because examining relationships is the primary essence of their practice. In working with Braden, you can expect to process your own relationship with self just as much, if not more than, processing your relationships with other people. This includes deeply examining the way you act, think, and feel about your self. Braden’s greatest hope for all their clients is that they exit counseling with a demonstrably more compassionate relationship with self.

In addition to exploring issues of gender and sexuality in the counseling relationship, Braden also specializes in dreamwork counseling approaches. They embrace the idea that dreams offer a wealth of information and insight about ourselves, if we only make time to listen to them. In counseling, Braden can offer dreamwork for a range of reasons including increasing your awareness of waking life issues and alleviating distress related to chronic nightmares. Telling Braden you want to process a dream in session will invariably light up their eyes and invigorate their spirit as they prepare to explore your dreaming consciousness together.

Braden builds on their graduate-level training in dreamwork by frequently attending workshops from leading dreamwork clinicians such as Dr. Leslie Ellis, reading clinical dreamwork books, and maintaining a personal dreamwork practice.

Message to clients

I would love the honor of working with you as your counselor. I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship we build together can have a dramatic benefit to your wellness. What I mean when I say this is that everything we reflect about in our counseling relationship can be applied to your relationships with other people as well as your relationship with yourself. My greatest hope for all my clients is that you depart our sessions with an increasingly compassionate relationship within yourself.

I know how daunting reaching out to a new counselor can be, especially if you have experienced invalidation and judgment from a counselor in the past. If you have lost trust in counselors, I want to have the opportunity to rebuild that trust. I want my clients to know that they have power within the shared counseling relationship to voice their needs and truths without fear of judgment.
