Dr. Brandi Norman is a Clinical Psychologist in Joplin, Missouri. She works with clients of diverse backgrounds, including individuals (18 and older), couples, and families. Many of Dr. Norman's clients come in when they are experiencing stress related to anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and when it is difficult to cope with life circumstances. Dr. Norman is particularly passionate about serving couples, families, and individuals ages 18 and up. She has advanced training in the area of Marriage and Family Therapy and working with gifted individuals in the medical/dental field.

Dr. Norman prefers to use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which emphasizes mindfulness and exploration of values to cope with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances. She prefers to use the Gottman Method when seeing couples. In the session, Dr. Norman focuses on listening compassionately, the therapeutic relationship, and meeting the client where they are at. These experiences enable her to work with all types of mental health struggles and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Outside of private practice, Dr. Norman enjoys reading, the practice of yoga, and traveling.

Message to clients

“Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.”

I chose this quote because it applies directly to life. In essence, I consider it my mantra. Each time, I read it, I remember all the events in the past that have led me to where I am now. In life, we are not without struggle. We are not without vulnerabilities, hopes, and dreams. At times, it may seem as if we will be unable to reach our goals due to the obstacles in our way. When we become aware of those vulnerabilities, we gain our strength and make headway toward our goals.

My expertise is supporting you through this arena of vulnerabilities. I am capable of asking you the right questions so that you can gain insight into the things that are holding you back. I can teach you skills to learn to cope with the immense emotions that arise while in a state of vulnerability. I can support you as you learn how to identify your values and then work to lean into those values.

I hope that we will meet, I will profoundly and compassionately hear you, and we will work toward developing a plan that will ultimately provide relief from your daily struggles.
