Professional statement

Brenda Camacho is a Staff Therapist at Insight & Action Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at CUNY School of Professional Studies and obtained her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College. Brenda completed her practicum at Hispanic Mental Health Counseling PLLC, working mainly with women of color in the areas of relationships, depression, dependency, anxiety and self-esteem, and completed her clinical internship at Insight & Action Therapy. As a first generation Mexican American, Brenda understands the importance of mental health and societal pressures in marginalized communities. She sees individuals as well as couples and welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities.

As a clinician, Brenda strives to establish an environment in which clients feel comfortable, safe, and free of judgment. Brenda believes that everyone has the strength and resilience to become their best self. In an effort to do so, Brenda aims to help clients recognize and focus on their strengths, recognize dysfunctional patterns, and help guide them to deeper levels of awareness.

Brenda’s experience is primarily grounded in Psychodynamic Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She also incorporates mindfulness techniques, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in her therapeutic work. As therapy is not “one size fits all,” Brenda strives to know her clients on a deep level and apply her broad knowledge of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client.

Message to clients

Taking the first steps to start the therapeutic process can be anxiety provoking. As a clinician, I strive to establish an environment in which clients feel comfortable, safe, and free of judgment. I believe that everyone has the strength and resilience to become their best self. In an effort to do so, I aim to help clients recognize and focus on their strengths, recognize nonadaptive patterns, and help guide them to deeper levels of awareness. Therapy is a collaborative process and I am dedicated to working together with clients to set up and meet their goals. I am also dedicated to meeting each unique client where they are at.

Therapist's note

Insight & Action Therapy accepts all major insurance plans out-of-network, and we will do all billing on your behalf. We strive to create an in-network experience so you don't have to worry about submitting claims and waiting for reimbursement from your insurance plan.

We will check your benefits and work with you to determine a fee structure. After any deductible has been met, you will pay us a copay and we will take care of the rest. Because seeing a provider out-of-network can often be quite expensive, we do our best to work within each clients' budgetary constraints so therapy is not a financial burden.
