Professional statement

Brian Alvarez is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Farmingdale, NY, who works with individuals ranging from 12- 65 years of age. Brian believes that each and every person deserves to be happy, but he also understands how difficult that can be to achieve and maintain. When working with Brian, you can feel confident knowing that he will provide you with the necessary tools to improve yourself and that your happiness will always be his number one goal.

Brian's main style of therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected in order to make change for the better. However, Brian has the knowledge and experience to alter his style of therapy based on the needs of the client. This flexibility allows Brian to be most effective when addressing a wide variety of struggles a client may be facing.

Brian is also a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-2), which means he has multiple years of experience working with clients who struggle with addiction. Not only is Brian well-equipped to help those who struggle with addiction, Brian understands the toll addiction takes on the loved ones of the addicted. Brian can help the friends and family of the person struggling with addiction learn how to cope with their loved one and address the pain they are left with each and every day.

When getting started, Brian' s main priority is to ensure he is the right fit for each and every client. Brian offers free consultations to all potential clients to ensure he is the right fit to begin the therapeutic process. In a constantly changing world, Brian offers flexible in-person and telehealth sessions to accommodate even the busiest of schedules.

Message to clients

Opening up to someone new can be a scary, uncomfortable time in your life. I want you to know that this is a judgement-free zone and that everything we discuss will be completely confidential. When working with me, we will create a relaxing, comfortable environment to allow the best quality of therapy to be done. Unlike many other therapists, I make an active effort to keep a flexible schedule to accommodate clients who are struggling, have an emergency, a bad day or just have life happening. I will always be able to make time to ensure your needs are met.

Lastly, life gets tough sometimes, but there is no reason why you should ever have to go through it alone. Let me help you so we can get through this together and allow you to be the best version of yourself.
