Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTBrian Donovan is a marriage and family therapist in Southern California, though he sees clients in California, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. He works with couples, individuals, and adolescents over the age of 16. Many of Brian’s clients come in to address anxiety, depression, communication problems, and marital adjustment problems. Brian is particularly passionate about serving individuals who want to change, couples who want to be stronger, and Christians who value their relationship with God. He also has advanced training in the area of sexual issues, trust issues, past infidelity.
Brian is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and strength-based therapy. With CBT, he helps challenge negative thinking and looks at how behaviors affect relationships. With EFT, he helps couples learn how to communicate, listen, speak clearly, and form a closer attachment bond. In sessions, Brian focuses on helping individuals seek help and healing. With couples, he will provide new insights and encourage couples to engage and interact with each other. This approach supports clients to better understand themselves and their partner within the context of their relationship.
Brian's style is non-judgmental, positive, and considerate. When clients first start therapy, he will seek to establish a strong relationship and then gain background information to gain a better understanding.
Brian received his MFT degree from Loma Linda University in California. He has worked at a non-profit organization working with individuals, couples, and families. Outside of private practice, he enjoys spending time and vacationing with his wife of 20 years, and four children. Brian offers only remote therapy sessions.
