For the last 17 years, he has helped individuals, families, and couples resolve problematic situations.
Brian will take the time to educate you about the conditions you experience and the treatment you receive. He believes that self-empowerment begins with self-understanding. He will help you understand why you do what you do and feel what you feel.
Brian has extensive experience treating addicted people in residential in-patient treatment, outpatient and aftercare facilities. He also advises and treats families struggling with addiction.
The process may be challenging, but he will never push you farther than you want to go. He will acknowledge your efforts toward self-development and encourage you to continue on the quest to improve. Brian uses various approaches, and together you will determine what works best. One of his goals is to develop your sense of self-empowerment.
Brian uses evidence-based therapeutic styles and techniques that have proven effective. This holistic approach includes client-centered empathetic listening combined with cognitive/behavioral, positive psychology, Gestalt, Adlerian communication and respect, as well as education.
Brian avoids using technical terms and may use humor, sarcasm, and hyperbole to emphasize ideas and break up any tension. He uses the mind/body connection with mindfulness and meditation to reduce emotional volatility and increase rationality. Spirituality can also be a part of the healing process and personal growth for interested clients.
Brian finds common ground with his clients regardless of their background. He specializes in helping people gain the knowledge, strength, and confidence necessary to resolve the current issue.
