Professional statement

For 20 years Brian Williams has specialized in couples: married, living together, separated...fighting, not talking, unhappy or hopeless. He doesn't criticize. He doesn't take sides. He doesn't judge.

Occasionally he will share a timely story from his 30 plus years of marriage. Coupled with his sense of humor, this creates an environment of acceptance that makes his research tested methods more effective. Since he and his wife have been in marriage counseling periodically throughout their marriage he easily empathizes with the difficulties his couples face.

He's studied with Dr. John Gottman, America's foremost marriage expert. Half of his expertise comes from books. He graduated from Princeton. The rest from sitting for over 8000 hours with couples like you. He believes marriage counseling is an art as well as a science.

Anxious couples begin their first appointment with issues (often of communication) that drains them of hope leaving them frustrated questioning whether to continue the relationship.

With a gentle touch he guides them through the heartbreak of infidelity, the damage of fighting, and the distance of disconnection. He offers proven solutions that make it better. Brian doesn't claim it's not hard work but seeing former combatants spontaneously holding hands can be joyful. From time to time all couples "go off the tracks." The art is getting back on track. .

During the pandemic Brian switched to telemedicine with excellent result-- convenience for childcare and partner that travel. His practice is now 100% telemedicine.

At heart Brian is a romantic. How unique couple's stories can be. How they met, obstacles they face, and challenges they overcome. He deems it a privilege to walk with these couples.
