Professional statement

Brit Creelman is a seasoned therapist who has been helping individuals, couples, and families for over 20 years. While traditionally trained as a clinical psychologist, more recent training and interests include mindfulness practices, breathwork, IFS, and somatic awareness.

Dr. Creelman is in private practice in Evanston, IL and serves as therapist in a clinical trial using psilocybin to treat depression. He enjoys working with academics, creatives, members of the LBGTQ community, professionals who are considering career changes, and those who feel limited by the status quo. Clients see Dr. Creelman to address depression, relationship or family difficulties, creative blocks, concerns about substance use, and stress related to Covid.

Message to clients

I help people explore underlying issues and release stories that no longer serve. All is welcome for discussion – especially wounded parts that need to be acknowledged, considered without judgement, and released. Mindfulness practices can bring about deeper ways of knowing, and for those who are interested I can incorporate this into the work.

When challenges feel overwhelming, sometimes what seems insurmountable becomes a blessing - if what's going on leads to self care and reaching out to others. For many finding a trusted therapist is a part of that process, and it's an honor to provide that role. As part of your discerning process please feel free to reach out with questions, and to get more of a sense of what doing therapy with me would be like.

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Family issues - Promoting communication and supporting family members to address challenges and reduce conflict and distress

Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating

Mindfulness - Bringing awareness to the present moment, while calmly acknowledging & accepting thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
