Living, listening, feeling and loving deeply - it is a gift, and can also feel like a huge weight. Especially if the focus is living for others.
A snapshot of a typical client: Emptiness, resentment, voices of self-doubt - they are all drowning out any sense of wonder, insight and vibrancy. It's so hard to make space for joy when invalidation is the greeting around every corner, when other people's joy feels like a sock in the stomach. There is a fierce longing for solitude and deep connection; yet silence just feels cold and company feels intrusive.
Therapy might feel like untangling a ball of yarn: it's all knotted up and in order to unravel it, all the individual pieces of string need to be carefully examined and pulled out. Bronwyn loves making connections and giving careful consideration to all the feelings that come up in therapy (there are a lot of them!). She was trained psychodynamically and uses attachment and relational theory in particular (which is a fancy way of saying she knows that experiences and relationships have a strong influence on us), keeping in mind the ways that systems of power and privilege play a role in well-being.
Depression - The defeat, isolation, fogginess - these are all telling you something. We are here to listen deeply, attentively, with gentle curiosity.
Women's issues - Systemic privilege is real. And so is your power. It takes work to heal from the myriad of ways that sexism harms us, so that we can lean into our fierce potential.
Highly Sensitive Person - You're empathic, reflective, and intuitive. (And, spoiler alert: terribly depleted.) Our work together builds on these strengths while staying focused on rejuvenation.
Anxiety - Your over-active inner critic, incredible ability to make thorough (a.k.a. excruciating) decisions, and knee-jerk guilt have you asking, "Did I do it right? Have I done enough?" far too often to be helpful. Step by step, we slow it down to bring your sense of control back.
