Bryan Epel obtained his Masters degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and parents. Over that time not only has he been a psychotherapist working directly with individuals, but also has many years of experience as a Clinic Director/Supervisor in a variety of clinics throughout the New York area. He is bilingual in Spanish.
Bryan is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Behavior Modification, and Insight Oriented Therapy. Bryan was born and raised in New York and his training reflects work with diverse populations and a desire to support individuals in achieving a better sense of self. His approach to therapy is collaborative, direct, and psycho dynamic which simply means that together, he will explore your process of continued development of growth and personal resilience, self-discovery, healing, and the achievement of your goals.
Addiction - Coping with emotional discomfort and suffering; reducing or abstaining from unwanted behaviors such as unhealthy gambling or shopping
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Stress management - Strengthening effective ways of coping with the stress of life and change; managing expectations of self and others
Suicidal ideation - Support living with intense pain, distress, and feelings of persistent hopelessness; strengthening meaningful relationships and experiences in one’s life
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
