Professional statement

Bryan Leach is a Licensed Master of Social Work based in New York City. Bryan works with adult clients experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, and many patients with whom he works are facing challenges associated with life transitions, professional dissatisfaction, or unfulfilling interpersonal relationships. Regardless of the presenting problem, Bryan tailors his approach to treatment to suit the unique needs of each client.

Bryan’s therapeutic approach is rooted in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on the impact of internal psychic processes, relationships with others, and sense of self on how we understand and interact with the world around us. Bryan helps clients explore their emotions and gain insight into their characteristic ways of being, which in turn creates a pathway to long-term change.

Bryan works with individuals across a range of populations and presenting problems. He is committed to being a culturally sensitive healthcare provider who creates a safe, supportive environment in which to assist all clients in working toward their treatment goals. Bryan also has extensive experience working with individuals who identify as being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Bryan earned his Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, and he is currently a third-year candidate for a Certificate in Psychoanalysis at the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (MITPP). In addition to his clinical training, Bryan’s practice is informed by years of professional experience in the fields of digital marketing, investment banking, and theatre. He currently works under the private practice and supervision of Derek Blevins, MD.

Bryan is currently offering in-person sessions at his office in Chelsea, as well as remote sessions via video conference.

Message to clients

I believe that therapy provides a unique opportunity for clients to explore and understand themselves in a way that is empowering and transformative. It’s easy to get caught up in the same routines and patterns of behavior you’ve always known, including those that don’t work for you anymore. Creating a space to delve into those patterns, explore your feelings, and consider new ways of being with yourself and others can be a meaningful catalyst for change.

I enjoy getting to know my clients and developing a deep understanding of who they are, what they want in life, and how we can work together to get there. I support clients in the pursuit of their treatment goals by showing respect and curiosity, employing evidence-based techniques, and building a strong therapeutic relationship. Therapy is a collaborative and deeply personal process, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to be a part of it.
