Professional statement

Using a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, Caitlin offers an individualized therapy experience for every client. While she enjoys working with a variety of populations, she is specifically passionate about working with folx from the LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and kink communities. Caitlin helps adults, adolescents, and couples/partnerships navigate issues including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, ADHD, sexual identity issues, severe and persistent mental illness, life transitions, trauma, family dynamics, and more.

Caitlin strongly believes her clients are the experts in their own experiences. Shebuilds an alliance to work collaboratively and address presenting issues – whatever they may be. She is committed to creating a space that is anti-racist, sex positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

Caitlin holds a Master of Social Work degree and has experience working with a broad range of backgrounds, identities, and populations with an equally broad range of presenting challenges. She is currently offering virtual appointments in New York. Reach out and connect to ask questions or schedule an appointment.

Message to clients

To paraphrase Carl Rogers, it’s a curious paradox that real change occurs once we can accept ourselves as we truly are. Our past experiences mold each of us into a fabulously unique human. It is my belief that we can solve many of the problems we face by looking at how we grew up and learned how to be a person. I want to break the expectations of what you “should” be and help you figure out who you really are.

As a clinician, I draw from a variety of schools of psychotherapy, frequently taking a humanistic, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, tailoring my style to fit the individual client. I take a non-judgmental and curious stance and have a down to earth style. Though I have experience working with adults, couples, and adolescents from a diversity of backgrounds who seek psychotherapy for a variety of issues, I have a particular interest in working with people in the polyamorous, queer/LGBTQIA+, and kink communities.

You've already taken an important step toward change by looking through the many pages of therapist profiles online, and I applaud you for that! If you believe we may be a good match, I encourage you to reach out and schedule a free consultation with me. I look forward to potentially working together and helping you find what it is you’re looking for, and hopefully more!
