His journey in mental health and social work began over eight years ago, and since 2018, he's been a licensed professional in the sunny state of California.
Calvin's career took root at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Department of Public Safety. This valuable experience in public service ignited a spark in him, leading him to delve deeper into the human services field. Motivated by this newfound passion, Calvin undertook a Master of Social Work (MSW) during his time at USC, achieving his graduation in 2015.
With his strong law enforcement background seamlessly merging with his social work experience, a role in Correctional Mental Health was a natural progression for Calvin. Shortly after earning his degree, he joined the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services as a dedicated Psychiatric Social Worker.
Further expanding his professional horizons, Calvin later embarked on an exciting journey in private practice. His welcoming office, nestled in the heart of Long Beach / Bixby Knolls, provides a safe space for both in-person and virtual appointments.
Armed with an impressive repertoire of skills and formal training, Calvin is proficient in techniques like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Solutions-Focused Therapy. He passionately embodies the role of a change agent, always meeting clients "where they are." His primary aim is to assist individuals as they navigate and mitigate life's stressors and challenges.
