Carly Steinberger is a licensed clinical social worker, with expertise in helping anxious, obsessive and highly sensitive people. She particularly enjoys helping teens and young adults going through life transitions in the realm of school, work, relationships and family life. Carly knows that these are times when anxious, obsessive and highly sensitive people are prone to stress and overwhelm. Carly also helps sensitive people, who may feel like there is something "wrong" with them, honor their sensitivity and harness it's potential.
Carly is trained is both CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and uses both in therapy. However, Carly takes an eclectic approach to therapy, and draws from other modalities as well, including attachment based therapies. Sometimes she has found that CBT and ERP can only take a person so far, and that more relational approach is needed. Carly values the client-therapist relationship and believes a strong and connected client-therapist relationship is necessary in good therapy.
Carly holds a Masters in Clinical Social Work, with a focus in adult mental health and wellness. Since pursuing her masters, she has pursued training and certification in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), completed a fellowship in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, as well as training in CBT, ERP and maternal mental health. It was through her work with children and families that Carly discovered her passion for helping anxious, obsessive and highly sensitive adults - many of whom were the parents of the children she saw, or were bringing their anxious, obsessive and highly sensitive teens to therapy. She is in the process of becoming a highly sensitive person knowledgeable therapist.
Carly holds virtual sessions through a HIPAA secure platform. She can see clients who reside anywhere in the state of California.
