Professional statement

Dr. Carol Reichenthal is a senior level clinical psychologist in Brookline, MA. She works with physicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, those in high tech, academics, attorneys, financial professionals, students, and those in creative fields. Most of her practice centers on high achievers who feel they aren’t doing “well enough” and lack a sense of joy and fulfillment. Like most therapists Dr. Reichenthal works with people struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues that cause stress.

Dr. Reichenthal’s area of particular expertise is working with medical professionals and high achieving academics experiencing difficulties with system issues and with balancing work with family and relationship, the cumulative pressures on career advancement in the current climate.

Dr. Reichenthal’s approach draws upon her advanced training in psychodynamic relational therapy. Clients gain insight into their inner worlds, reflect on family environment and attachments both past and present, and the causes of their current distress. Dr. Reichenthal offers a therapy environment where she listens deeply, guides people to dig more deeply into their inner lives and emotional reactions to their current situations. Her therapy style is laced with humor and common sense, offering those she works with a warm sense of emotional support.

Dr. Reichenthal earned a PhD in Psychology and completed post-doctoral advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She’s held leadership positions in professional organizations. She is attuned to issues of culture, race and class and welcomes clients of all backgrounds to her practice and into her sessions.

Message to clients

I know how tremendously helpful it is to have the private time and protected space to talk about and explore your feelings and thoughts. I listen carefully, helping to make a more meaningful narrative together with you as we understand the roots of long standing problems that get in your way. My hope is that first you find some relief of the current problematic situation you find yourself in and then that we work on strengthening your resilience, we find solutions and become partners in this project of creating a sturdier you.

Over the years I've found that people do well with meeting at least once a week. Often more frequent meetings takes the process deeper and makes it more part of everyday life - when that's practical and possible for you.

Whatever stage of life you're in, having someone to talk with in this way, to understand more of who you are, makes life richer and simply easier!
