Caroline Obrecht is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island. Caroline has expertise in postpartum depression, new motherhood, couples counseling, depression, and anxiety. She has a certificate in marriage and family therapy from Butler Hospital and sees many couples. She also offers sessions in American Sign Language for Deaf and hard of hearing clients.
Caroline has a master’s degree in deafness rehabilitation from NYU where she studied ASL (American Sign Language) and Deaf culture. Prior to private practice, she was a voc rehab counselor with Deaf and hard of hearing people and briefly worked as a state screened sign language interpreter.
Caroline is an integrationist in her therapy approach, and tailors the treatment and style to each client's individual needs. She combines Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction techniques, insight oriented therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as other tools such as therapeutic journaling.
