Professional statement

Catherine Kiley is a licensed mental health counselor based in NY who provides telehealth services to young professionals and adults who are struggling with anxiety and perfectionism. Many of her clients struggle with feeling stressed, overwhelmed and like they can't control their anxiety. She also helps individuals who are struggling to feel understood and connected in their relationships.

Catherine's approach in therapy is insight oriented in that she will help you get to the root of your problems by exploring connections between your past and present and will help you to uncover unhelpful thinking and behaviors that are holding you back. She will also help you to learn new skills that are helpful in managing and reducing anxiety in the moment and will help you to reframe your narrative so that you go from feeling stuck and anxious to feeling more positive and hopeful in life.

Catherine's style is supportive, non-judgmental and accepting so that her clients feel safe to speak freely and openly. She lets you bring to session whatever is on your mind and to explore what is happening for you in the present moment. She listens actively, taking in what you are saying and responding in a way to guide understanding, growth and change. Her goal is to help guide you to positive change and to feel more at peace, balanced and happier in your relationships.

She has completed trainings in anxiety management and treatment, mindfulness based stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Message to clients

If you are struggling with anxiety, you may feel like you are constantly worried or thinking of the worst case scenario. You may feel like you get stuck in your own head thinking things over and over without any resolution. Maybe you experience panic attacks and worry about having another one. Or perhaps you struggle in social situations, second guessing what you say or avoiding them completely. Or maybe you struggle with feeling not good enough, feeling like you need to be constantly productive or feel that you are stuck or frozen, wanting to be productive but unable to follow through. These are common concerns that people experience and therapy can help.

Meeting with a new therapist and being open and vulnerable about your experience is not easy, so it’s no surprise if you are hesitant about the idea of therapy but remember that you are entitled to get help, no matter what you are going through. Being in therapy can take courage and can be challenging at times which is why finding the right fit is extremely important so that you are able to speak freely and work through your difficulties. Feel free to set up a phone consultation or email me with any questions.

Client testimonials

"Catherine was very professional, and it sounds like we'll be a good match."
- Zencare client August 2019
"Catherine was quick to respond and set up a preliminary meeting by phone. I’m grateful"
- Zencare client July 2022
"Catherine was my first therapist, and she really helped me through a hard time getting through my breakup from a long term relationship when I felt I could no longer work through it alone, and helped with my every day anxiety and ways to cope with that. When I first reached out to her, I was highly confused and upset and didn't feel like my usual optimistic self, but after working with her, I feel so much better and am really happy I chose Catherine to go through my first therapy experience with. I would recommend her to anyone, and I feel like her listening skills, guidance, support, and patience can really help anyone work through a wide range of issues. She is flexible about ways you want to handle talking through how you're feeling, and I am truly grateful to have found her, and feel like this really helped me be able to be in a healthier place moving forward."
- Zencare client March 2024
"Catherine was quick to get back to me and quick to set up a consultation. We discussed her therapy style and she even suggested checking in after a few sessions to make sure she’s a good fit for me which I appreciated. Excited for my first session with her!"
- Zencare client January 2024
"I’ve only been with Catherine for a few weeks but I’ve already felt more comfortable opening up to her than I had with my previous therapist. The option for an over the phone appointment versus video call has made a huge difference as well because I find myself freely talking about what’s on my mind without worrying about the small distractions that come with video calling. In my experience with Catherine, she’s asked the right questions that prompt important conversations and I feel she’s been kind of blunt in her responses which I really appreciate and respect!"
