Professional statement

As a therapist, Catherine specializes in identity and self discovery. Many of her clients are on a journey of coming to terms with their sexuality, gender, body image, or other aspects of their identities that might have been hidden. Catherine uses mindfulness to connect clients with their bodies and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to rewrite any thoughts, behaviors, or feelings holding them back from being fully authentic. Her goal is for clients to embrace all the parts of themselves, achieve self acceptance, and live fully in their power.

Catherine’s approach to therapy is rooted in analyzing her clients’ relationships, starting with what they looked like during childhood with parents, peers, and siblings. Our early experiences form our fundamental patterns, ideas, and behaviors in relationships. With Catherine, clients can break down some of those ideas so they can decide which ones to keep and which ones to change. Through this work, clients build more fulfilling relationships with themselves and the people around them.

Message to clients

We don’t heal in isolation. On the contrary, healing takes place when we form healthy, supportive connections with others. Therapy with me is rooted in building a safe, affirming relationship where you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, clarify your sense of identity, and feel confident and grounded in who you are.

Many of my clients are coming to terms with their gender or sexuality, body image, or other aspects of their identities. By digging into your thought patterns, analyzing relationships, and using mindfulness to process feelings, we’ll work together to heal your relationship with all the parts of yourself—and by extension, the people in your life.

Young people today are up against a wildly different world than the one our parents grew up in—including more access to social media than ever, growing global and economic instability, and a future that can appear uncertain. If you’re feeling a sense of hopelessness or existentialism, you’re not alone. In our work together, we’ll also create strategies for preserving your mental health and finding a sense of purpose in these times.
