Professional statement

In certain ways your life is great; yet at the same time you feel like you're faking it and peace and contentment are forever fleeting. Are you stifled in your deepest yearnings to freely choose, be present, belong, feel, know, and grow? Charles Yin can help.

Charles Yin is a therapist, consultant, and coach with 10 years of expertise using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) modalities--including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness-based and somatic (body) quieting/relaxation skills. Considered the "gold standard" for a variety of mental health issues, CBT effectively treats myriad health problems (both mental and physical suffering).

His specialities are:

Stress and Coping Skills

Anger Management/Forgiveness

Christian Counseling

Peak Performance

Positive Psychology (Flow/Gratitude)

Grit, Resilience and Mindset

Mindfulness and Mental Health

He considers it an honor collaborating with his clients, tailoring effective and proven tools to create greater meaning, feeling, fullness, and joy in their lives.

Charles's therapeutic approach is nuanced and holistic. He considers all facets of a person (thoughts, feelings, relationships, spirituality and meaning-making, physical health) in catering the counseling to what best suits that individual– there is no one size fits all approach. Helping others successfully manage difficult life situations, gain insight, grow and thrive beyond the situation energizes Charles. He uses compassion, respect, humor and authenticity to foster an empowering environment encouraging people to maximize themselves, developing resiliency in the process.

Charles offers both the convenience of virtual sessions for any CA resident and also the option of in-person counseling in the San Diego area.

Message to clients

Losing your mojo really sucks: you hate it, fear it, swear with every fiber of your being to not experience it again....succeed, at least for a little while, then one day you wake up and your heart sinks realizing you are somehow "not yourself" again. Can you tell I have no personal experience with this (coughs)?

But in the depths of your struggle (and welcome to the human race, where pain is prerequisite) you can still live meaningfully, intentionally, and fully. You can and will have your pain BUT you can eat your cake too. That is because pain and joy are not mutually exclusive. You have a choice now and every moment whether to walk by joy amidst pain; similarly while pain in life is inevitable, prolonged suffering is not.

Whatever life has or will throw your way, with willingness and the right tools, I'm here to equip you to live a meaningful and full life regardless of your circumstances.
