Professional statement

Chauney Peck is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist located in Los Angeles. Chauney partners with individuals to help them move forward after trauma. Many of her clients’ trauma manifests into physical pain, restlessness, and sleep or eating disruptions. She also supports clients whose depression and anxiety get in the way of their everyday living and relationships. Her goal is to help clients grow their self-esteem and feel empowered to take a mind-body approach to their healing.

Chauney is a somatic therapist, which means that she teaches clients how to calm down their nervous systems, which tend to get stuck in the fight-or-flight patterns experienced during trauma. She helps clients identify how their bodies hold onto their stress or mental health challenges, and find ways to become grounded within the body. Through Hakomi therapy, Chauney teaches clients how to engage in a gentle, yet deep self study process to explore inner experiences. This might look like using sensations, images, memories, or emotional reactions to deepen into the levels of the psyche. Chauney also offers clients the opportunity to explore their emotions and beliefs through art therapy, using different mediums to tap into the mind.

Chauney’s style is warm, patient, and gentle. She encourages clients to become more mindful in their everyday lives, and gives them tangible tools to develop their sense of awareness. She supports clients as they learn more about their minds and their bodies, and as they begin to journey away from their trauma, anxiety, or depression.

Message to clients

Do you feel invisible even though you’re smart and accomplished? Maybe you feel like an imposter or like it’s impossible to be the main character in your life. This could be due to childhood trauma or interpersonal wounds around expressing needs. These ‘expression wounds’ can dissolve confidence and creativity over time. For artists and creatives in particular, this decline can be grim. This is not your fault. With enough pain and trauma, any human body’s protection system will avoid activity, resulting in disconnection from the body, shame, or anxiety.

If left unattended, these symptoms turn into unexplained medical problems like chronic pain or stomach issues. I offer somatic and art therapy with neuroscience-backed tools, including mindfulness and regulation. Working directly with the nervous system releases unconscious emotional wounds, builds self-trust, and strengthens the mind-body connection.
