Chemenda Sawyer is a mental health counselor with a private practice in Florida, welcoming individuals across all ages and couples who are seeking to create change in their lives. Clients seek her out for a variety of issues. Clients bring emotional pain, with symptoms that include anxiety and depression. Couples with relationship difficulties that cause them to feel disconnected. Other concerns include feeling unbalanced, stressed and self-criticism. She supports her clients, as they pull back the layers of challenges in order to release painful past experiences and together find ways to re-engage with their loved ones, their careers, and themselves in more meaningful ways.
Sessions are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. Working to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change.
She challenges clients to explore the root cause of their symptoms, gaining new awareness into their emotional and relationship patterns. At the same time, focusing on practical strategies, with an emphasis on relaxation and meditation practices; to help clients feel better in the here and now. She brings awareness to the mind-body connection in the healing process.
