Chris Coleman, the owner, Clinical Director & Supervisor of Liberation Counseling & Consultation, LLC’s located Hanover County, VA, focuses on assessment, prevention, intervention and treatment of mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders (specialty areas) through evidence-based practices. These services are delivered by staff who specialize in these specialized disorders for assessment, treatment and proper level of care referral. Following the intake screening to deem if we are appropriate for you, you will receive an evidenced based assessment, with evidenced based assessment tools for a thorough biopsychosocial, spiritual, substance use assessment, for proper levels of care and treatment. We are a biblically, faith-based organization, that will ask permission to pray with you, but will always pray for you, and you do not need be of the Christian faith to receive services. We will not force our beliefs upon you; however, we also will not/do not compromise them either. We use biblical principles as part of what we do, as we do believe: Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Liberation Counseling & Consultation, LLC will serve ages 18 years old and older, male, and female for assessments, consultation, relapse prevention, aftercare, individual & family sessions for those with substance use disorders, and step-down services. Each person will be treated with dignity and respect as they pursue their path of discovery and recovery, and with substance use disorders, in accordance to the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria. It is imperative for you to understand, that since we are currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland & Florida we can, and will only provide services for those residents of those areas and we require proof of residency.
Substance abuse - Reducing and preventing the negative impact of drug and alcohol use and addictions on physical, emotional, and relational health
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Alcohol use disorder & addiction - Tolerating emotional discomfort; reducing or eliminating reliance on alcohol; development of new coping mechanisms for stress and suffering.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Anger management - Addressing sudden outbursts of anger or sustained resentment; developing healthy anger expression and outlets

Any payments made by credit card, whether PayPal, Venmo, Inuit or through my electronic health record (TheraPlatform), incur a 3% processing fee, unless the full payment can come through without their fees applying. In-person sessions, cash & checks are accepted. A credit card must be stored within my electronic health record for no shows/late cancellations, in which you will be charge the session fee/assessment fee.
