Chris Jackson is an associate-licensed humanist and existential mental health counselor in Providence, RI. He offers both brief and long-term therapy for adolescents, young adults, and adults of all ages. He works with individuals and couples, in-person and online. He is an ally for the LGBTQ+ communities. Chris has worked with clients experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, broken relationships, identity explorations, family rejection, intersectionality, trauma past and present, career crises, grief and loss, and life transitions.
Chris uses a person-centered approach to therapy, listening without judgement to where each client is and where they want to be. He chooses therapeutic techniques best suited for each client and their situation, which may include cognitive-behavioral exercises, values-based explorations, meaning-making, and mindfulness. He is trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, couples counseling, trauma-informed care, and existentialism.
Chris received his master's of science degree in clinical mental health counseling from Johnson & Wales University. He has practiced therapy for three years, at group agencies in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He also counseled young women recovering from trauma in a residential program and worked with young children in an elementary school. His style is warm and connecting.
