Professional statement

Christian Weeks is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Cranston, Rhode Island specializing in mindfulness, trauma, anxiety, depression, play therapy, and couples counseling. He is a highly skilled clinician with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. He has a particular expertise in recovery from grief and loss, working at the pace each client sets to process complex emotions and promote healing. Having worked at a school-based program and a counseling center with a focus on children’s therapy, he also has extensive experience working with children as young as 5 years old.

At the heart of Christian’s practice is a strong emphasis on mindfulness and being grounded in the present moment. His approach is flexible, drawing from elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In his work with children, he utilizes play therapy to help them express challenges in their natural language.

Christian strives to create a supportive and interactive environment for clients to openly share their thoughts, concerns, and hopes. He brings a warm and curious approach to his practice, eager to help his clients face challenging circumstances with mindfulness and resilience.

Message to clients

I invite clients into a supportive and interactive atmosphere where they can set the pace of therapy, share and explore different emotions, and experience the importance of truly feeling heard and understood.
Gradually, I help clients develop skills to better manage their upsets, fears, or relational challenges, both past and present. From a mindful perspective, I challenge clients to find and create a ‘half full' mindset, developing an ability to move beyond emotional reactivity and overwhelm.
Regardless of the specific challenges, clients learn to better see the opportunities they have within their circumstances rather than feeling victimized by them. Clients learn to speak and move into a new way of being - one with a renewed sense of possibility, a reduction of fear, and with greater energy, peace, and freedom.
