Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, LPC-A Master of Arts, MAChristie Wilke is a Professional Counselor located in Austin, TX. Christie has extensive experience supporting children and adolescents. She works with clients who suffer from anxiety, phobias, PTSD, or relationship conflicts with parents, siblings, classmates, and others. Christie also enjoys working with children and adolescents who have autism and helps them integrate healthy daily routines into their lives. Her goal is to help young people feel confident, worthy, and joyful.
Christie uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with her clients. Through this therapy modality, clients learn to connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Christie teaches them to avoid harmful thought patterns that result in low self-esteem. She also teaches clients coping skills, which can vary based on age, personality, preference, and setting. Clients learn how to manage their emotions and how to recognize moments when they’re becoming overwhelmed. She takes a trauma-informed approach to working with clients, meaning that she makes sure that clients feel comfortable, safe, and secure in each session as they talk about their memories, feelings, and aspirations.
Christie earned a Master’s degree from Trinity University and St Edwards University. She has over 15 years of experience working in school as a school psychologist. She strives to model honesty, kindness, and openness for her young clients. She helps them set goals for themselves and work towards those goals intentionally.
