Dr. Christine Cantner is a Clinical Psychologist in Morristown, NJ who specializes in gender and sexuality, adolescent mental health, body image and eating disorders, self-injurious behavior, anxiety, and depression. She has extensive experience working with teens, especially those who identify as LGBTQIA. She is passionate about working with the full range of human experience and has experience treating suicidal ideation and severe and persistent mental illness. She welcomes all genders and races.

Dr. Cantner’s treatment approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies that focus on behavioral changes, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices. She also utilizes psychoanalytic therapy when appropriate.

Dr. Cantner wants all of her clients to feel supported and understood, and she is always wiling to help them no matter what challenges they are facing. Before starting her private practice, Dr. Cantner worked at a residential treatment center providing therapy for adolescent girls. Prior to that, Dr. Cantner worked with adults at several hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout the New York City area. After graduating from the University of Virginia, she received her masters and doctorate from Long Island University. She looks forward to meeting you.

I appreciate your courage in reaching out for therapy. It takes strength and a leap of faith to make that first call. I believe we repeat what we don't repair. It is my privilege to work collaboratively with patients to gain empathy and insight into their suffering and to both support and challenge them to make the changes necessary for their growth.


Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation

Eating disorders - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating

Gender identity & transgender health - Exploring gender identity, including trans, non-binary, and gender variant identities; support throughout the process of transition

LGBTQIA topics - Exploring topics of sexuality, gender, and identity; coping with discrimination and oppression; navigating relationship, family, and cultural challenges
