Clay is a dual graduate of the University of Mobile and a dual graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. Clay holds degrees in History and Theology from UM. He also holds advanced degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Theology from ATS. Clay is a schoolteacher at Bayshore Christian School where he teaches History and Theology to high school students. This practice is his passion project. Several years ago, Clay experienced work-related trauma, and from that experience he decided to find a way to help others.
Clay’s main work over the past two years has been at Light of The Village in Prichard, AL. Clay has worked with clients who have experienced a wide range of trauma. Through using a mixture of CBT and talk therapy Clay helps his clients confront their trauma and seek wholeness. Cultivate Counseling’s aim is to come along side those who are hurting and help them find solace. Here at Cultivate Counseling we know that all people need healing. With that knowledge in mind Cultivate Counseling seeks to help clients grow healthier together.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Career counseling - Support around personal and professional growth; clarifying career goals and implementing steps toward building a fulfilling career and meaningful work-life balance
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress
Loss, grief, and bereavement - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
