Professional statement

Dr. Courtney Dinsmore is a Psychotherapist in Northwest DC who specializes in working with individuals who are struggling with relationships, anxiety, the effects of traumatic experiences and grief and loss. She enjoys working with clients who are motivated to move forward in their life and make the small changes that can bring life-altering results. She offers couples counseling to help improve communication and explore ineffective patterns that develop between romantic partners. Dr. Dinsmore incorporates insight-driven therapy, collaborating with clients to jointly examine how their past experiences may contribute to the patterns in their present lives. She focuses on the way these past experiences and patterns affect clients' lives, helping them to interact and communicate more effectively with those around them.

She also treats individuals with trauma in their pasts. In working with adults who have experienced difficult life events such as unstable or neglectful childhood, abuse and interpersonal violence, Dr. Dinsmore prioritizes helping clients restore their sense of control and self-regulation and find power in overcoming challenging circumstances.

Dr. Dinsmore believes that the benefit you receive from therapy is directly related to the connection you experience with your therapist, and the safety you feel with her. Her office is a respite from a busy world full of competing demands. She invites each client to refocus their attention inward and work with her to discover a life to love. Dr. Dinsmore qualified under PsyPact. This means that she can see clients via telehealth who live in the many states that have adopted PsyPact, incluing Washington, DC and Maryland.
