Professional statement

Dana Peterson Dorsett is a licensed clinical social worker. She seeks to guide her clients towards their unique sense of balance within themselves. Feeling more balanced, they learn how to enrich their relationships with others and participate in life with more ease. Her clients are creative thinkers, seekers of growth and inner peace. They all possess a bouquet of internal gifts yet at times, are unable to recognize or tap into these gifts, their strengths, and potential. Dana helps her clients discover their authentic self, their eternal beauty, and inner power often blinded by negative beliefs and messages created through past experiences. She helps her clients to accept the past as a guide to growth, to observe the unknowns of the future as opportunity to cultivate Trust, and to explore and live more often in the present.

Most of Dana’s clients seek her out due to anxiety, worry or fears of the future, or feelings of sadness, upset, and pains of the past. Some of her clients are going through a transition. Others feel stuck or uncertain, unwilling to accept the present. Dana helps them explore and develop their 4 levels: Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. She teaches that as we develop one level, inevitably we strengthen and support the others. The goal is to find a balance within each level and ultimately integrate all 4 levels.

Dana has a holistic, non-judgmental approach when treating her clients. She mixes modalities of Mindfulness based therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), and Bowen Family Systems. She also uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Theory (EMDR) and Hypnotherapy. She teaches each client how to use breath, imagery, and meditation to slow down the nervous system and relax. She offers online and in office sessions.

Message to clients

I strive to create a safe zen- like environment, where you can breathe, grow and be YOU.

As you and I participate in life we will be confronted with all sorts of challenging experiences. It’s not so much about what’s happening to us, more importantly, it’s about where we decide to place our focus, how we decide to handle the situation (we have choices) and who we decide to become because of the situation.

I will hold up the mirror to all of this for you (without any judgment), so that you can have a clearer view of your life situation. With more Clarity, you can begin to make Choices based on what you believe in, leading to more meaning and purpose.

I hope to meet with you soon. I'd like to take this journey of growth with you.
