Professional statement

Dr. Camacho is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in providing psychotherapy to young adult clients (ages 18-40) residing across the United States. His clients often experience emotional and relational challenges, such as anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. They often enter therapy feeling emotionally overwhelmed and unsure of what their next step should be.

Dr. Camacho helps his clients figure their lives out…one step at a time. He takes time to compassionately listen to his clients’ presenting concerns, therapy goals, and their past experiences and interests. He helps them gain insight into their thoughts and feelings, relationship patterns, and the impact of past and recent life events. He subsequently guides clients to think and act in novel ways which encourage progress towards their goals. During the course of therapy, his clients feel understood, connected to themselves, and more empowered to face challenges in their lives.

Dr. Camacho’s approach integrates best practices from insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and relational therapeutic orientations. Informed by these orientations, he crafts an individualized approach that uniquely meets the needs of each of his clients. His style is authentic, relational, and collaborative, and he places an importance on understanding the unique backgrounds and identities that impact their experiences.

Dr. Camacho's professional background includes more than a decade of therapeutic experience providing psychological services to adolescents and adults in outpatient clinics, schools, and an inpatient hospital. He has recently held positions at institutions such as Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, University of Virginia School of Education, Sheppard Pratt Community Services, and University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Camacho values making therapy accessible, and likewise provides remote teletherapy sessions to clients who reside in PSYPACT states across the United States. He is generally available during the weekdays.

Message to clients

The years of young to mid-adulthood can be a uniquely stressful but also dynamic and exciting time of your life. It is truly a time when you “figure things out” through adversity, support, and personal growth. If you are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain by what you are going through, you are not alone nor is your experience uncommon. In such times, reaching out to a trusted source of support and guidance can be immensely helpful.

I would be happy to help “figure things out” with you. I take a relational and collaborative approach to understand who you are and what you would like to gain from therapy, and to create goals that we work towards together. I integrate best practices from multiple therapeutic approaches, but most importantly meet you wherever you are at. Through our work together, my hope is that you feel understood, more connected to yourself, and better able to handle the challenges that arise in your life.

If you feel like I could be helpful in your journey, please schedule a consultation with me. Be well and hope to talk with you soon.
