Professional statement

Dr. Danielle Rathey is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate located in Milford, CT. Dr. Rathey works with clients across the lifespan, from children to adults. Many of these clients struggle in the school setting, whether from a learning disability, neurodivergence, challenges in executive functioning skills, or because they’re adjusting to a major life transition. The stress from any of these situations can often lead to low self-confidence, feeling overwhelmed or isolated, or even disordered eating. Dr. Rathey provides clients with a space to talk about this stress and learn how to work through it.

Dr. Rathey’s approach to therapy begins with a focus on positive psychology. She teaches clients how to add positivity into their daily routines so it becomes second-nature for them. She also draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices so clients leave therapy with skills in avoiding negative self-talk or cognitive distortions as well as grounding techniques. By understanding that thoughts connect to feelings and behaviors, clients practice adjusting their thought patterns with Dr. Rathey’s coaching. Dr. Rathey’s goal is to address the barriers in her clients’ lives and help them, with the support of their families, to overcome these barriers.

Dr. Rathey has a background in school psychology and coaching. She previously was a professional ballerina and musician, and enjoys incorporating music into her sessions. She currently teaches graduate-level mental health courses for budding therapists.**
