Professional statement

Debbi Brod is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Houston, TX. She works closely with individuals and couples who want to find a deeper sense of meaning in their daily lives. Many of Debbi's clients hope to discover who they are at their core and develop their self-identity. Using elements of life coaching, Debbi also helps her clients bring a greater authenticity to each relationship and tackle any roadblocks that come up along the way. Debbi's work is often solutions-oriented, meaning that she works collaboratively with her clients on setting goals and problem solving.

Debbi believes that the first step towards a mental health goal is to become aware of feelings and thoughts. She may ask her clients about their relationships with friends, family members, and partners to get a better sense of communication style and feelings of closeness or connection with others. With couples, she supports the growth of intimacy, including after infidelity or major transitions.

Debbi earned her Master’s degree in social worker from University of Houston. She was also a business consultant for several years before she founded her practice and began living a truly fulfilled life. Her business mindset shapes her practice to be results driven and action oriented. She is also good at seeing the big picture and pulling out insights pretty quickly.

At the core of Debbi's work, and her life, are four fundamentals; self-awareness, compassion, wellness and resilience. Her practice is guided by these beliefs as they relate to her patients, her purpose, her field and the world we live in.

Debbi is passionate about helping others manage their stress. She creates a comfortable atmosphere for each session and supports her clients as they find alternative frameworks from which to live as they discover alternative frameworks to thrive in life OR from which to live.

Message to clients

Self-Awareness Is The Cornerstone Of Living A True & Connected Life - Discovering your true self, is mental exercise. Sometimes, you get a better workout when you have a trainer in the gym with you. I consider myself the trainer. I bring the exercise plan & encourage you.

The Science Of Psychology Should Be Applied With Compassion & In Trust - My practice is clinical my personality is not. The relationship I develop with my clients is equally as important as the best practices, psychological modalities & principles of neuroscience I apply. I pack a full load of compassion in my professional tool bag. Without it, we cannot develop rapport & trust. Ultimately, trust fuels the most powerful work we will do together.

Wellness Is Physical, Emotional, Intellectual & Spiritual - I believe wellness is the hum of the 4 basic human needs working in alignment with your true self. Wellness is achieved when all 4 elements are playing the same song. I named my practice Village Counseling & Wellness because my goal is to help clients achieve wellness.

Humans Are Inherently Resilient-We Grow When Our Mindset Is Effectively Grounded - There's a disconnect in this technologically connected world. People tend to hide behind facades like perfect, important, smart/ busy. We need to strip away these facades & be more mindful everyday in order to be our best selves. We need to ground ourselves in reality, know our strengths & fuel our fire with self-belief.

Adjustment difficulties & disorders - Support around adapting to new and/or challenging life circumstances; skill-building for improved stress management and reduction of anxiety.

Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating.

Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love.

Life coaching - Identifying intentions and implementing strategies to build resilience and work towards one’s personal, health, or career goals.

Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress.

Emotional Regulation - Emotional cross training to build connection and emotional intelligence - ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. Recognizing how our mood regulation heightens stress and relationships (work, friends, partners).
