Professional statement

Denise M. Williams is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, California. In her private practice, she focuses on women of color who suffer from depression, anxiety, phase-of-life issues, and existential crisis. Through a social justice lens, self-care, and a sense of humor, Denise’s goal is to help women uncover the belief systems that drives behavior that does not work for them. From this place, women can learn to create the life that they choose to live.

She is licensed through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and is a member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.

Denise believes that change happens when we examine what we believe. She uses a simple formula when working with clients: Beliefs + Values = Behaviors (B+V=B).

In other words, what you believe and what you value shows up in your behaviors. So, if one wants to change their behaviors, one must first examine their belief and value systems. Denise believes that doing so through talk therapy with a qualified, caring professional is a powerful tool of transformation.

Message to clients

If you are an African American/Black or woman of color struggling with life stressors, mental health issues, imposter syndrome, self-esteem, trauma, racism in the workplace, generational trauma, or more, it is time to give me a call so I can assist you in your healing journey. I will create a safe healing space free of judgment and shame so that you can heal. I am eclectic in my approach as one size does not fit all, but I specialize in Psychodynamic therapy and EMDR.

My goal is to assist women of color to heal by exploring your belief and value systems and how they impact your behavior. Healing your inner child, desensitizing old traumas, providing tools and healthy coping skills to improve your mental health. I will encourage, motivate, coach, and inspire you if you are ready to move past the pain and create a life not driven by fear.

I understand how difficult it is to dig into your past and face your pain, I am here because I have had to do the challenging work of healing and understand the importance of having the right therapist. The right therapist will allow you to get vulnerable and from vulnerability comes great healing.
