Professional statement

Desiree's goal is to join with her clients during their most difficult and vulnerable moments and empower them to find their inner strength. As a relationship-focused therapist, her emphasis is on helping clients set and maintain healthy boundaries and facilitate positive, productive communication.

Desiree uses a narrative therapy approach to guide individuals, couples, and families. She uses language itself to help the client(s) identify and step back from the issues that are causing problems in their relationship(s). Through establishing a shared understanding of how these issues arise, Desiree is able to help the client(s) figure out strategies that work to "fight back" against the problem.

Desiree understands that generational habits and trauma can affect current relationships in profound ways. She utilizes genogram mapping to identify inherited trauma responses. By helping clients become aware of their preconditioned responses, Desiree can empower them to break the cycle.

Message to clients

My clients tell me that our sessions feel like talking to a lifelong friend. I approach most issues with curiosity and find that the more I seek to understand my clients, the more they can identify connections and patterns for themselves. Because I don't shy away from the truth, I tend to be direct with my clients, while keeping their comfort levels in mind.
