Professional statement

Desiree Trujeque is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Southern California, where she welcomes young adults, adults and older adults who are seeking mental wellness and emotional support in today’s challenging times. Many of her clients experience emotional pain, whether the symptoms of anxiety and depression are taking a toll, substance use has turned into abuse and dependence, or personal, professional or intimate relationships are leaving them feeling insecure, overwhelmed or powerless. Together, she works with her clients to identify new and healthy coping skills for restoring balance and wellness to their lives, in their relationship’s and themselves in more meaningful ways.

Therapy sessions with Desiree integrate both insight oriented and skills-based approaches. She gently works with her clients to explore and uncover the underlying causes of their symptoms, gain insight into their connection to current problems and awareness of how to change and heal. Desiree also focuses on and utilizes practical approaches such as, mindfulness breathing/relaxation and CBT and, supports clients by providing a safe space where they can learn how to emotionally tolerate and accept, the past and the present using a whole person approach.

Having current experience as a clinical director in substance use disorder outpatient treatment, Desiree is uniquely skilled in working with those experiencing trauma and substance use disorders, mental and emotional distress.
