Professional statement

Diana Ball is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Northeast Indiana. She works with Adolescents and adults. Many of Diana’s clients come in to address trauma, pain, difficulty regulating emotions, suicidality. Diana is particularly passionate about serving survivors of trauma and members of the LGBTQ+ community. She also have advanced training in the area of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the treatment of chronic pain.

Diana is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Internal Family Systems (IFS); in which we use mindfulness practices to increase awareness of our experiences and identify skills (DBT) or facilitate greater understanding (IFS) to help us better cope with experiences. In session, Diana focuses on building curiosity, awareness and problem-solving. This approach supports clients to feel increased confidence in their ability to manage situations as they arise in daily life.

Diana's style is compassionate, and non-judgemental. When clients first start therapy, Diana begins to gather information about current and past struggles, identify goals and then help a client select an approach that fits their personality and goals.

Diana received her MSW from University of Kentucky. She has worked in a variety of aspects of social work including: community mental health, residential care, medical case management, addiction treatment (inpatient and outpatient), and clinical research. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, watch irreverent Irish comedies (ie: Father Ted), and stress baking. Diana currently offers telehealth sessions to clients in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio with plans to open an in-person office in Fort Wayne, IN in the coming year.

Message to clients

Deciding to enter therapy can be a difficult choice. I am so glad that you are beginning (or continuing) this journey and would be honored to walk alongside you for as long or short as you choose. I offer a client-centered approach that is based in research. I believe that lived experience is a valuable tool and can be used to strengthen understanding and relationships. I also believe that helping clients understand WHY we do what we do is just as important as providing the most up-to-date evidence-informed care. Therefore, I often talk with clients about the mind-body connection, what we know, and what we think we know from neuroscience about how and why certain techniques work.

While I often work with clients dealing with everything from life transitions, to adult-diagnosed ADHD, and depression, I particularly love working with clients with traumatic experiences and/or personality disorders who have been told or feel that their needs are "too much." Watching clients move from overwhelm to confidence and peace is what makes my work meaningful.

I look forward to meeting with you to explore how you can move forward in your journey!
