Professional statement

Diane Gilbert is a licensed clinical social worker who has extensive experience assisting clients in their journey of healing. For the past 30+ years, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings and has served a diverse group of clients with concerns such as grief issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues and self esteem. Establishing a warm, safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance in Diane's clinical approach. Her client centered, compassionate work strives to help clients gain self awareness, to expand personal growth and move clients forward in the direction of greater joy, peace and self acceptance. Clients will learn both cognitive and coping tools, and expand their understanding of their life experiences and challenges.

Diane has a particular passion for assisting those who are dealing with grief, traumatic losses and complicated bereavement. Over her extensive career, she has assisted countless clients to heal from difficult losses including with those with child loss, suicide, addiction related deaths or sudden/ traumatic losses. Diane served as the Coordinator of a community based Youth Art Therapy Bereavement Program for over 20 years, which provided direct bereavement services to families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Diane helped to create the curriculum for this program which included: grief rituals, art therapy techniques, music therapy and other creative, expressive therapies. She has facilitated numerous therapeutic groups for grief and trauma recovery, and has lectured on these topics in community based seminars and workshops.

Diane's practice is based in Central NJ, but she has primarily been offering telehealth services to clients for the past 2 years. This approach provides the flexibility and ease of scheduling that many clients prefer at this time, while allowing her to serve clients in other parts of the state.
